Nicole Beharie

Nicole Beharie was born on January 3, 1985 in West Palm Beach, Florida. She is of mixed descent, thanks to her parents, her father is from Jamaica, while her mother is from Nigeria. Nicole grew up in many countries, including the United Kingdom, Jamaica, Nigeria and Panama due to her father’s work. She studied at the Orangeburg Wilkinson High School in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She continued her education in the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts & Humanities ad graduated it in the 2003. She additionally studied at the famous music school Julliard. She also was awarded a Shakespeare scholarship and trained in Great Britain.


She has made her debut as an actress with a 2008 film “American Violet”. In the same year she played Sarah Ward character in the movie “The Express”. The next year she appeared in the TV series “Three Rivers”. In the 2010 she portrayed Shay Hunter in the movie “Sins of the Mother”.

Since then she has made her appearances in numerous movies and tv shows including “Shame”, “The Good Wife”, “Woman Thou Art Loosed: On the 7th Day” and “Apartment 4E”. In the 2013 her songs "Two Hands", "Catch Me", "Morning Light", "Scars"and "My Last Day Without You" appeared in the soundtrack for “My Last Day Without You” movie. In the 2012 she played Faith Davis in the film “The Last Fall”. She was involved in the short film “The Mirror Between Us” s Zora. In the 2013 she played Rachel Robinson in the movie “42”. Recently she appeared in the “Jacob's Ladder”. One of the brightest characters of Nicole was a detective Abbie Mills from popular mystic TV series “Sleepy Hollow”. It was her main role and she even appeared as Abbie Mills in the detective TV series “Bones”. Previously, she got an episodic role of Tracy Harrison in the television series “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”.

In addition to her work on several TV series, she also does a theatre stage work. During 2010-2011 she played the role of Margery Jolicoeur in the play “A Free Man of Color”. She was nominated with such awards like Black Reel Awards, NAACP Image Awards and Fangoria Chainsaw Awards. She also is a winner of 2009 African-American Film Critics as the best actress.

She is a married woman. Her husband is Tom Mison, who is known to be an actor too. There is no information about her previous relationship. She has no any divorce story neither she has become a part of any rumor and controversy in her life. The couple has no children till now.
