Miriam Katherine McDonald was born on July 26, 1987 in Oakville, Ontario, Canada. She was raised by her parents in native Oakville along with her siblings. She had a sister, who died recently. There is no information about her early life and education.


She began her acting career in the late 90s. She made her first appearance in the TV series “System Crash” in the 1999. The next year she become the cast member in spin-off of the “Degrassi series” and played Emma Nelson in the new series “Degrassi: The Next Generation”. She was the major character for nine seasons till the show was closed in the 2010. In the 2001 she was a voice actress in the cartoon series “Ripping Friends”.

Miriam also appeared with the minor role of Chewy in the TV series “Pecola”. In the 2004 she played Dawn Gensler in the movie “She's Too Young”directed by Tom McLoughlin. She also appeared in TV series “Blue Murder” with the episodic role of Lucy Wentworth. She appeared in the short video “Karma” as Samantha in the 2005. At the same year she landed the role of Heidi in the episode "As Bad as It Gets" in the television series for a family “Naturally, Sadie”. For several years she stops to appearing in the series projects and tried herself in some big movies.

In the 2007 she was the cast of film “The Poet” where she played Willa, the movie was released on June 21. Another movie project was horror film “Devil's Diary” by Farhad Mann. In the 2008 she played the role of Carly McKenna in the movie “Sea Beast”. In the 2013 she played two characters, twin sisters Riley and Anita in the TV series “Lost girl”. She was involved in the TV series “Orphan Black” with the minor role of Madison in the episode “Conditions of Existence” in the 2013. In the 2014 she appeared as Haley in the Canadian horror film “Wolves”. She continued playing Emma Nelson-Mason character in the new series “Degrassi: Next Class” in the 2016.

In the 2006 she was honored by Young Artist Award as the best young ensemble performance in a TV series (Comedy or Drama) for her work on CTV's channel "Degrassi: the next generation".With her amazing beauty she once appeared on the cover of Reader's Digest in the 2007. During her career she also becomes a voice master, and voiced-over then 39 characters in cartoons and movies. Behind the scene she is a dancer too. Miriam is also interested in yoga, boxing, swimming and big tennis. She is close friend of actress Megan Park.

She is not married yet. Miriam likes to keep her private life to herself. Previously she was dated with Ryan Cooley, who also was a co-star of “Degrassi” TV series. It seems like she is single now. As she has been earning lucrative amount of salary, her net worth is expected to be around $3 million dollars.
