Joy Bryant was born in the year 1974 on October 18th. She spent her childhood days in New York. When she was only a few months old, a separation took place between her parents. She had to move with her mother to her grandmother's house. When she was two years old, her mother got involved in a relationship which led to her second marriage. Her mother left her with her grandmother and moved with her husband to his place. She had to spend her childhood days with her grandmother.
Her mother hardly came to meet her on the weekends and she absolutely had no contact with her father. As a child, she knew nothing about how her father was and neither did she get any time to spend with her mother. She felt miserable at times when she saw all her friends with their parents. She felt very lonely and the only person to talk to was her grandmother.
She had developed a passion for dance from a very early age of three years. Her grandmother admitted her to a dance school in their locality so that she can follow her passion as well as can come out of her boredom. Her passion towards dance kept growing with each passing day. She grew up to be a very good dancer. She participated in many school functions as well as in many local dancing events.
She visited the Westminster School when she used to live in Bronx. She was a popular member of her school's cultural team and brought many certifications and awards for her school. She had to stay in boarding for the last few years of her high school life as her grandmother passed away when she was only in seventh standard. After completing her high school education, she joined the Yale University. She studied Bachelor's of Arts degree in the university.
When she finished her university education, she started giving auditions for establishing her acting career. She first appeared in the video of I’ll Take Her in a small role. She showed her acting skills in this video which gave her the opportunity to try out better career options. She represented several brands such as Tommy Hilfiger, Roca Wear and Ralph Lauren. Her career as a model was very smooth as she had a very nice figure and attitude. She had advertised for Victoria’s Secret and has been casted in several music videos.
She started her acting career in the year 2001. The famous director Robert Townsend offered her a supporting role in Carmen: A Hip Hopera. She had also appeared in action comedies. She is also famous for her notable roles in a number of biographies, especially in Baadasssss! Due to her huge popularity across the globe, she has been listed among the 100 Sexiest Women on television for the year of 2011.
