Jonathan Watton is a Canadian filmmaker and actor from Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. He has a loving and caring family. His parents have been supporting him all his life and helping him to reach his goals and aims.


Jonathan Watton started his career in 1999 playing Grayson in episode 1 of a Canadian television show that first aired on the PAX TV network Little Men. In a year Watton got a role on The Crossing, a 2000 historical TV film about George Washington crossing the Delaware River and the Battle of Trenton, directed by Robert Harmon. Based on the novel of the same name by Howard Fast.

In 2007 Jonathan Watton appeared in Breach, a historical and political thriller film directed by Billy Ray. He starred as Geddes. The same year he got the role of Mason in TV film They Come Back. Watton continued his biography playing David Gray in a thriller Just Business directed by Jonathan Dueck in 2008.

In 2011, Jonathan Watton was given his greatest and the most significant role on Murdoch Mysteries, a Canadian television drama series aired on both City and CBC Television, titled The Artful Detective on the Ovation cable TV network. The television series is based on characters from the novel series by Maureen Jennings. It was developed by R.B. Carney, Cal Coons, Alexandra Zarowny. Watton starred on 14 episodes as Dr. Darcy Garland, a fellow doctor in a Buffalo hospital who later married Dr. Julia Ogden. Darcy appears several times in the later episodes and makes his final appearance in Crime and Punishment when he is shot through the head and killed by James Gillies. Julia is framed for the murder. With the help of Station House 4, Dr. Grace and even Giles, Murdoch saves her.

Damian Lee, a director of an action thriller film A Dark Truth (also known as The Truth), gave Jonathan Watton a role of Caller in his new film. The same year, Watton acted in 7 episodes of Good God as Tim Hailwood. It is a Canadian television comedy-drama series which premiered in April 2012 on HBO Canada. The show follows the life of character George Findlay. A 2014 alumnus of the Canadian Film Centre’s Cineplex Entertainment Film Program Directors’ Lab, he adapted the novel Creeps as his first feature film.

The role of Sterl Carruth on Maps to the Stars brought him enormous fame. It is a 2014 internationally co-produced satiricaldrama film directed by David Cronenberg. Jonathan Watton played alongside with such stars as Julianne Moore, Mia Wasikowska, John Cusack, Robert Pattinson. In 2015 he played Ridley on 2 episodes of historical fantasy romance television series following the early exploits of Mary, Queen of Scots Reign.
