Jon Alan Barry was born on July 25, 1969 in Oakland, California. He was raised in the family of basketball players. His parents were Rick Barry and Pam Connolly. He also has three brothers Scooter, Brent, and Drew. His father is a member of The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. He attended De La Salle High School in Concord city. During that time he began play basketball for his school. After school he studied at the University of the Pacific and Paris Junior College, where he also continued his basketball career. Afterwards, Jon also received a scholarship for The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta and studied there during 1990-1992.


Jon began his professional career right after his College years. In the 1992 he was chosen by the Boston Celtics team in the NBA draft. Later he refused to sign a deal and didn’t appear on that season. Afterwards he joined to another team - the Milwaukee Bucks. He was a player of Bucks during 1992-1995. He continued his career as a player of Golden State Warriors in the 1995 and played there for a year.

In the 1996 he joined to the Atlanta Hawks team. His time with this team was pretty short to and in the next year he left. He signed a new contract with famous Los Angeles Lakers. During 1997-1998 he was in the native California and played for the team of Los Angeles until he left for another position. After a short pause Jon signed a deal with Sacramento Kings for two seasons during 1999-2001.

He made his appearance for the Detroit Pistons team in the 2001. It was his breakthrough time, during 2001-2003 he scored 739 points in 82 games in the season of 2001-2002 bing in the Central Division. Next to The Detroit Pistons he joined to the Denver Nuggets for 2003-2004 season. In the 2004 Jon made his appearance for the Atlanta Hawks team again. The last two years in the professional basketball sport he spent as a team member of the Houston Rockets. On March 1 of the 2006 Jon ended his NBA playing career. He was 36 years old.

During his fifteen year career, he scored about 326 playoff points in 63 NBA playoff matches during the fourteen seasons. After a successful career of a basketball player Jon started his new professional way as a sport analyst. He appeared on television with his experienced opinion on the ABC channel as well as on ESPN.

He is active in the social networks like Facebook and Twitter. Jon is a very private person and does not expose his relationship, regarding his wife, girlfriend and so on. There is no any photography where he has been seen with women. He prefers not to speak about his personal life and did not appear on any live TV chat shows.
