Donna Mills

Donna Mills (born Donna Jean Miller) was born on December 11, 1940 in Chicago. She attended the Garvey Elementary School and then Taft High School. Later she enrolled in the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During her college years she was a member of Delta Gamma sorority.


She got her very first role at the Drury Lane Theatre with a production of “Come Blow Your Horn”. She started her professional TV career in the middle of the 60s, when she appeared on the CBS daytime soap opera “The Secret Storm”. In the late 60s she also appeared in several projects like “The Incident” and “Love Is a Many Splendored Thing”. In the 1970 she played in both “Love, American Style” and “Lancer”, which was a small TV series. She got her breakthrough with a TV series “The Good Life”, where she was a regular character. She played Jane Miller during 1971-1972. In the 1972 she appeared in such movies like “Haunts of the Very Rich”, “Rolling Man” and “Night of Terror”.

She played Susan Winters in the 1975 film “Who Is the Black Dahlia?”. In the same years she appeared as a Ginny Eaton in the movie “Live A Little, Steal A Lot”. In the 1978 she appeared as Jeannie Carter in 3 episodes of “The Love Boat”. During the 80s she has made he appearance in numerous movies and TV shows like “Waikiki”, “Bare Essence”, “Alice in Wonderland” , “Outback Bound” , “He's Not Your Son” and “Intimate Encounters”.

She is well-known thanks for her main role in the TV series “Knots Landing”, where she played Abby Fairgate and Ewing Sumner. During 13 years she appeared in 236 episodes of the show. After this project, she concentrated on movies, and even she co-produced several of them, including: “The World's Oldest Living Bridesmaid”, “Runaway Father”, “In My Daughter's Name”, and “My Name Is Kate”.

Additionally, she has appeared in various television movies such as “Love Is A Four Letter Word” as well as in the film “Ladies of the House”, which was released in the 2008. She took a lot of guest roles in numerous TV series like “Dirty Sexy Money”, “GCB” and “Cold Case”. During the last years she appeared in such movies like “When Life Keeps Getting In The Way”, “Deadly Revenge”, “Joy” and “12 Gifts of Christmas”.

She won the Soap Opera Digest Award three times in the late 80s. In the 2015 she also won the Daytime Emmy Award for her appearance in the “General Hospital”.
