Alanna Masterson

Alanna Masterson is an American-born actress. Born in New York on 27th of June 1988, Alanna is well-known for her roles in the movies Peach Plum Pear and The Walking Dead. Alanna’s daughter is almost at age 2 but has no siblings.

Biography

The 29-year-old actress was born and raised in Long Island, New York, U.S.A. to parents whose names are Carol Masterson and Joe Reachie. His dad, Carol, was a manager while her mother was an Australian professor who played for South Sydney Rabbitohs in the Rugby League. Alanna is the youngest of her four siblings. Jordan Masterson, his full brother, and his other half-brothers, Will Masterson, Danny Masterson and Christopher Masterson and, are directly involved in acting.

The Masterson’s family later moved to Los Angeles, California. Alanna’s passion for acting developed while spending time with his elder brothers on set. Masterson’s elder brothers were featured in popular TV shows, and this impacted her life after having a glimpse of the process of filming. Alanna’s brothers influenced her interest in scientology. It is speculated that Alanna is of the white ethnicity, but contrary to this, she is of Irish and Lebanese ethnicity but holds American Nationality. Alanna had her first child, Marlowe Masterson, with her partner, Brick Stowell.

Career

With her growing interest in filming, Alanna received an opportunity immediately after high school to work in the TV show, The Walking Dead, on the AMC TV show. Though she made her first appearance in the 4th season, Alanna made regular appearances in the 5th season and later on the 7th season. She managed to make it to the main credits of the TV series.  Apart from that, she has also made appearances on The Mistress, an ABC’s TV show.

As it is the case with most nursing mothers, Alanna daughter, Marlowe, affected her acting career. Moreover, while pregnant, some of the viewers shamed her body and mocked her claiming she looked over-weight in an episode. The series producers tried to hide Alanna’s baby bump on set until when she was six months pregnant. At this time, Masterson’s pregnancy could not be hidden. Tara Chambler, the role Alanna played in The Walking Dead, was absent in the last episodes of the sixth season and the beginning episodes of the seventh season due to her pregnancy.

Alanna uploaded on Instagram a picture of Marlowe with a caption, "Dear Instagram trolls, bodyshamers, and the men and woman who think it's OK to comment on my weight, I hope that you don't have children...” The actress spoke against the criticism emphasizing on kindness and acceptance. She also claims to have added weight in order to breastfeed her daughter, and she does not regret it. Due to all the shame she received from viewers, Alanna responded to her critics and later resulted in deleting her Instagram.

The roles Alanna has played in the TV shows, especially the Walking Dead and her recurring appearances in the Mistresses’ 4th season, have largely contributed to her amassing a net worth of close to 2 million US dollars as per 2017 research.
