Zain Asher

Zain Ejiofor Asher was born on August 27, 1983 in Balham, Sussex, The United Kingdom. Zain Asher is of Nigerian descent. Zain also speaks on Nigerian language Igbo. She was raised by her parents Obiajulu and Arinze Ejiofor. She also has siblings. Her brother Chiwetel Ejiofor is a British actor, film director, and screenwriter. She lost her father when she was just five years old. He died in the car accident when he coming back from Nigeria, he was a doctor. Zain was interested in writing and journalism since she was a teenager, after school she decided to become a news reporter and dreamed to live in America.

After school she attended Keble College in Oxford University and graduated in the 2005 with a degree in French and Spanish languages. She continued her education when she moved to the United States. She enrolled to Columbia University and studied at the School of Journalism. She graduated in the 2006. Afterwards she began her career as a reporter for Money Magazine. She wrote interesting finance articles for magazine and was the main columnist for several years before she was hired by CNN.

Being the financial reporter and journalist she also covered the debt crisis in Greece during 2007 - 2008. In the beginning of 2013 she joined to CNN channel as a business correspondent in New York City. During these times she makes a financial report and takes a part in different TV shows. She also is working at the News 12 Networks as TV reporter, working in Brooklyn and Bronx. During her breakthrough career as correspondent she had also worked in native Nigeria, France, and Mexico using her knowledge of languages from College years.

In the 2014 Zain covered the horrible accident with almost two hundred schoolgirls were kidnapped by Boko's Haram militants. She reported about their threat to the government that girls will be sold in Cambodia. At the same time she reported about the bomb and terrorist act at the Boston Marathon. She also spoke in the air about terrorist attack in France in Charlie Hebdo office. Being the main CNN reporter she also covered Earthquake in Nepal which happened in the 2015. It was almost 8 magnitudes and killed about eight thousand people and more than fifteen thousand were injured. Zain Asher was also involved in TEDx talk program in London -an originally television show which was organized with a participation of different big cities across the world.

Currently she resides in Atlanta and worked as news anchor at the CNN International channel. She anchored CNN Newsroom program which translated weekdays at CNN International.
