Famously known as Snoop Dogg, Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. was born in Long Beach, California on 20th October, 1971. His father Vernell Varnado was a Vietnamese singer and a mail carrier while his mother Beverly Broadus was a housewife. Snoop’s biological father left him while he was only three months old. He grew up with his mother and step dad. His parents divorced in 1975. Snoop Dogg discovered his love for rapping when he was in sixth grade.
Snoop Dogg is famous for being in trouble with the law. He is known for his heavy use of marijuana. Soon after he graduated from high school, he got arrested for possessing cocaine and he went to jail many times during the next three years. It was during that time that Snoop and his cousins Lil ½ Dead and Nate Dogg and friend Warren G began recording homemade tapes together as a group named ‘213’. He was invited for an audition by famous producer Dr. Dre when Dre heard one of Snoop’s early solo freestyle named ‘Hold On’.

Snoop Dogg is a multi-talented personality as he is a rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer and actor. He, along with Dr. Dre, released their debut solo album named ‘The Chronic’. The two were highly praised from fans all over the world for their work. Snoop Dogg released his album ‘Doggystyle’ on Death Row in November 1993. Snoop Dogg created history with this album as it became the first ever debut album that topped the charts. Despite topping the charts, the album received some criticism as the fans accused the album of being a copy of ‘The Chronic’.
The release of ‘Doggystyle’ was spoiled due to Snoop’s connection with the death of Phillip Woldermarian, something which took the world by storm, during 1993. After performing at the MTV music awards, Snoop presented himself before the authorities. He was finally absolved in 1996. Once he got acquitted, Snoop Dog resumed with his music work. He released another album called ‘The Doggfather’ in 1996 which received mixed reviews.
Snoop Dogg started appearing in films by 1995. He first appeared in a documentary which was about the culture of hip-hop. The film was called ‘The Show’. He went on to feature in several films such as ‘The Wizard of Oz’, ‘Ride’, ‘Half Baked’ and ‘Whiteboys’. Few years later he did films like ‘Training Day’, ‘Baby Boy’, ‘Bones’ and ‘Starsky & Hutch’. All these albums, movies and shows have helped his net worth reach $135 million.
