Shiba Russell works as a journalist and she is a co-anchor of noon and of 5:30pm newscasts at WNBC of New York City. She was born in the city of Boston and grew up in Ocean Township of New Jersey. She found out that she likes to produce news when she was in the senior years and she signed up for a class in the TV production. She graduated from the Ocean Township High School and afterwards she continued her studies with a BA in the College of New Rochelle where she majored in the Communication Arts and she graduated magna cum laude. In the year 1998, she graduated from the Northwestern University and she got a master in Science. When she was in the college, she was an intern of WCBS-TV and of Bronxnet TV.

Shiba Russell started her career when she was working as correspondent for Washington DC for the Medill News Service. She did many reports under NY1 and for KVIA-TV. In the year 1999, she started to work for 12 The Bronx for a weekend reporter and anchor. She was among the first reporters who were sent to the ground zero when there was a terrorist attack on 11 September. She had reported on many major events and they include the Amadou Diallo’s police involved shooting, Baby Bronx Bombers’s Little Investigation and the Edgar Rivera who was a subway pushing victim. She had worked as a fill-in announcer, photographer and a reporter for Neighborhood News 12 Long Island.
Shiba Russell started to work for WTAE-TV of Pittsburgh when she was a weekend evening anchor and also a general assignment reporter. Afterwards, she joined the WCVB-TV of Boston where she started to work for weekend morning anchor and for weekday reporters. She served as a station A+ reporter and she reported on the high school seniors who overcame incredible odds. Shiba Russell joined the WNBC-TV of New York City where she was a weekend evening anchor and she was then promoted to start working at 5pm. On June in 2012, she started to anchor the 11 pm newscast together with Chuck Scarborough and he replaced the long time anchor of 11 pm called Sue Simmons. Shiba Russell continues to give the news at noon and at 5;30 pm. She left the WNBC in the year 2016.
Shiba Russell is living in the city of New York together with her daughter. When Shiba Russell was given the job of Sue, many people thought that there is more to such moves and some even threatened that they are going to stop watching the news if Sue is not in, however, this is not happened and people continued to watch the news even when she left.
