Scottie Maurice Pippen is a retired American professional basketball player. He is famous for his time with Bulls and is often mentioned by his nickname, Pip.


Personal life

Scottie was born in 1965 as the 12th child to Ethel and Preston Pippen. Both his parents were more than 6 feet tall and he is the tallest of all his siblings. His father who worked in a paper mill had a stroke that prevented him from walking. Scottie attended Hamburg high school where he played basketball and earned all-conference honors. He did not get any college scholarship and he started his college by playing for University of Central Arkansas.

He had been married to Larsa Pippen for 19 years and has four children with her. They met in a party in Miami and started their romantic relationship, which ended up in marriage. He divorced her in 2016 stating her adultery actions. She had stated that he breaks items in the house when he gets angry and she stated that she used to be very afraid of him. But, there was no allegation of domestic violence. Pippen stated that the divorce is due to his wife’s relationship with Future. There were reports about Larsa and Future getting cozy in a nightclub. Some say that it was a revenge for Pippen openly flirting with an actress, last year. After the rumor, there was a lot of drama including cops called up twice at their doorstep. Divorce settlements are under work and it is said that Pippen has agreed to pay a monthly payment as settlement.

Career

Straight from college, he was spotted by NBA draft. He was selected as fifth for 1987 NB draft and was traded to Chicago Bulls. He was the youngest of all team members with 6’10’’ height. He was the back up for Brad Sellers and Charles Oakley. In the same year, he had his first game and finished it with 10 points and 2 steals. He started small forward position in 1988 and had his first All-star selection in 1990. He became the primary defensive stopper in 1991. In the same year, he was announced as a member of Olympic basketball team. After 11 seasons with Chicago Bulls, he was traded to Houston Rockets. After one year, he requested to be traded off which created a lot of controversial issues. He was then traded to Portland Trail Blazers in 1999. In 2003, he left the team and signed up again with Chicago Bulls. In 2004, he announced his retirement.

In 2007, he tried to make a comeback to play for championship contender. In 2008, he made a comeback at the age of 42. He returned to the Bulls again in 2010 as team ambassador. in 2011, Chicago Bulls presented a bronze statue to honor Pippen. He is known for his defensive abilities in the field he had won six NBA champion, seven NBA All Star and others. He was awarded with USA Basketball Male Athlete of the Year in 1996, Consensus NAIA All-America in 1986 and 87. Apart from these, there are a lot of awards and recognitions awarded for his sports ability.
