Early Life and Career
Manterola was born as Patricia Manterola Carrion in Mexico City, Mexico on April 23, 1972. Her parents were Jorge Manterola and Maria Carrion. She has an older brother named Jorge and a younger sister named Michelle. Her nickname as she was growing up was Paty. She did her schooling at Franco-Espanol and graduated from Tecnologico de Monterey. During her college years, she sang in the chorus of Miguel Angel Institute. Her first acting role was in a school play at the age of nine, which was Anita la Huerfanita.
Later on, she participated in Juguemos a Cantar, where she moved on up to the final rounds. Her participation songs were cut into an album and played for the festival.
Modeling and Acting Career
Manterola first modeled for several poster performances and won some recognition. This caught the eye of a Mexican producer of soap operas named Luis de Llano. She was cast in some shows and then made it to Garibaldi, a project where Mexican people dress up in their traditional attire and perform.
Her first show was Donde Quedo La Bolita? in 1993. She then released her solo performance with Hambre de Amor. Eventually, she went on to bag several roles in other telenovelas such as Acapulco, Cuerpo y Alma and Gente Bien.
On foreign shows, she did a special role in Ugly Betty and Muchas Muchachas. She has also worked in a few feature films including The Dukes of Hazzard and Carman: The Champion. In The Dukes of Hazzard, she acted with John Scheider who played the role of Bo Duke also known as Boda. She also had roles in The Singer and The Perfect Game.
Awards and Recognition
Manterola won the newcomer of the year title from TV y Novelas in the very year she started out. Later she was nominated for Best Lead Actress for her role in Apuesta por un Amor.
Social Work
Manterola spends time in active social work as well. She is quite outspoken about her views on animal rights. Her nude poster for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) went a viral hit. She has protested against KFC as well. Also, she works for protection of children’s rights and for underprivileged children. She ran a successful campaign donating 1500 toys to children. Recently, she has started working in the areas of education and health welfare.

Manterola has had two marriages. Her first marriage was to her boyfriend Javier Ortiz. Currently, she is married to Forrest Kolb.
