Ming-Na Wen was born on the 20th of November, 1963 in Coloane, Portuguese Macau, China. Her parents, mother, Lin Chan Wen, and father divorced when Ming was just a little girl. As to the siblings, she is the youngest in the family and she has a brother, Jonathan. Later, when her mother married again, they welcomed Ming’s younger brother Leong and moved to United States of America. She spent her childhood and grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she entered the high school. While being a teenager, she had a job in her stepfather family's restaurant called Chinatown Inn in downtown Pittsburgh's Chinatown. During the formative years, she attended Carnegie Mellon University and graduated from it with high a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre.

As to the career, her debut as an actress happened in 1985, when she performed one of the roles in the children's television series “Mister Rogers' Neighborhood”. Later, for three years, she was Lien Hughes on the soap opera “As the World Turns”. Soon she was seen in the film “The Joy Luck Club” which got many approvals. She became famous due to the role of Dr. Jing Mei “Deb” Chen in the NBC drama ER. Since that time, she was noticed not only in cinematograph of America but also in the countries all over the world. Since 2013, she has been playing Agent Melinda May in the ABC action drama series “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”. Currently, she is one of the most notable persons in Hollywood.
