Personal life
Melissa was born in a town called Littleton in Colorado to parents Jin and Julie Benoist. She holds American nationality. Her father was a physician. Her two siblings are Kristina and Jessica Benoist. Her early life was spent learning dance and acting. She started attending dance lessons while she was only three and also started acting in a church the following year. During her teen years, she performed at Disneyland with the Academy of Theatre Arts, which happens to be a theatre school based in Colorado. She locally enacted in various productions including the likes of ‘Bye Bye Birdie’ and ‘Cinderella’.
In the year 2006, Melissa was named among Colorado’s five “Can’t Miss Kids” by ‘The Denver Post’. She graduated from the Arapahoe High School in Colorado in the year 2007. She then opted for college studies and she graduated four years later from Marymount Manhattan College, NYC with a degree in Bachelor of Arts in theatre.
Melissa tied the knot with Blake Jenner in 2015 who was her former co-star on Glee. Unfortunately, the two separated in December 2016 due to lack of common understanding. Few months later in March, she began dating co-star Chris Wood, with whom she took a romantic vacation in Mexico. The two have also been spotted by fans taking a stroll with their dogs around Vancouver and going on trips to Los Angeles.
Apart from her professional lift, Melissa has also served the society in various ways possible. She launched a website along with her current boyfriend called “I Don’t Mind” that talks about mental illnesses. Career
Melissa made her debut in film ‘Tennessee’ in the year 2008. Four years hence, she auditioned for ‘Glee’ by singing five different songs. She, along with other co-stars of ‘Glee’ appeared in the opening ceremony of the 2013 Kid’s Choice Awards. She was also declared the ambassador for Coca-Cola’s newly launched product ‘Coke Mismo’. In June 2013, she flew to Manila in Philippines in order to endorse the product where she met many fans.
In the year 2013, Benoist and Blake started a campaign in order to help fund their movie ‘Juvenile’. The project reached it’s $100,000 goal in no time. Benoist portrayed Nicole in ‘Whiplash’, which got released in 2014 and won several prices at the Sundance Film Festival held in 2014. Then in June 2014, she enacted in the classic novel adaptation of Nicholas Sparks called ‘The Longest Ride’ as Marcia.
In 2015, she starred in ‘Danny Collins’ opposite Al Pacino. She portrayed Jamie in the film. She then did the film ‘Lowriders’ in which she portrayed Lorelai by replacing Nicola Peltz and Lily Collins. She landed a leading rold in the film ‘Oxford’ in August 2015. Melissa’s net worth is $3 million.
