Lynda Carter

Lynda Carter, born Lynda Jean Cordova Carter on 24th July 1951 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, has been a U.S. singer, actress, model, beauty pageant champion, and songwriter. She had been chosen Miss World America 1972 and finished as one of the semi-finalists in the Miss World Contest 1972. She is particularly famous for her role as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in the American TV series entitled Wonder Woman. The TV series had been based on the comic book entitled Superheroine, and was broadcast first on ABC, and then on CBS from the year 1975 to 1979.


Personal Life

She was born to Colby Carter and Juanita. Carter’s father, Colby Carter, has been of Scots-Irish and English ancestry while mother Juanita, who had been from Mexico is of French, Spanish, and Mexican ancestry. It was at the age of five that she first appeared on television for the public and performed in the band entitled Just Us. She joined another band entitled The Relatives at the age of 16.

As for her education, she joined and studied in Arizona State University. She was adjudged there as “Most Talented”, but she left her studies to join a course in music. She sang her first song with The Garfin Gathering in a San Francisco hotel in 1972.

Lynda Carter is a married woman who has married twice. She first married Ron Samuels, her talent agent, on 28th May 1977. However, their marriage lasted for only six years, and she divorced him in the year 1983. She married a second time with Robert Altman on 29th January 1984. Her husband, Robert, is the CEO and attorney of ZeniMax Media. They have been blessed with two children namely Jessica Altman and James Altman. They have now been together for more than three decades. Their relationship is going strong, and there is no rumor of any kind in the air. They are leading a happy married life.

Career

Carter actually started her career at the age of 5 when she performed in a TV show Lew King’s Talent Show. She won the Arizona Beauty Contest in 1972, and the very same year she was the cynosure of the entire United States when she won the Miss World USA. She reached up to the semi-final stage in the Miss World Contest 1972.

She acted for the first time in 1974 in a police drama entitled Nakia. Then, she appeared on so many television shows such as Starsky and Hutch and Cos. The International Academy of Beauty and the British Press Organization voted Carter the Most Beautiful Woman in the World in the year 1978. Her career took a big break when she acted as Wonder Woman in a TV show of the same name. The show continued from 1975 to 1979.

The DC Comics declared her as an honoree in the company’s publication “Fifty Who Made DC Great” on the occasion of its 50th anniversary in 1985. During the 1990s, she appeared in many TV series such as When Friendship Kills, Hawkeye, and She Woke Up Pregnant. As per her biography, her net worth is estimated at $10 million.
