Lisa Edelstein is well known for her role as the uptight, conservative surgeon in the medical drama series DrHouse. Lisa Edelstein was born on 21st of May, 1966 to Alvin Edelstein and Bonnie Edelstein. She was born and raised in Boston,Massachusetts. Her father Bonnie is a Pediatrician and worked with the Chilton memorial hospital. Her mother Alvin is a social worker. Lisa has Polish Jewish and Russian Jewish ancestry.
The talented actress graduated from the Wayne Valley High School in 1984. While in school, she was a prominent cheerleader. She did cheerleading for New Jersey Generals. The club was owned by Donald Trump. Lisa initiated a protest citing derogatory treatment of cheerleaders and this earned a lot of attention.
Later, the vivacious actress enrolled at Tisch School of Arts and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree. Lisa originally started out as a playwright. She wrote and performed a play about AIDS which garnered wide praise in the New York theatre circuit. Following this, she started playing small roles in various TV shows. Lisa had previously dated Petri Raisanen, Norman Kali and Giammario Villa. From 2014, she has been married to artist Robert Russell. The couple live in Los Angeles, California. Lisa garnered a lot of attention when she appeared in PositiveMe, a musical that she wrote composed and performed. The musical was about AIDS and it gathered widespread fame. Following this, she appeared in small roles in several TV shows such as Wings, The Larry Sanders Show, and Mad about You etc. Slowly, she started getting bigger roles in Relativity, Ally McBeal, Felicity, etc.
Lisa’s biggest break was when she was signed to play the role of Dr Lisa Cuddy, a very conventional and finicky surgeon who is at constant loggerheads with the protagonist Dr House.
