Born on March 25, 1977, to Father Filiberto Ramirez and mother Today Arellano in San Cristobal situated in Tachira, Venezuela, Edgar Filiberto Ramrez Arellano spent most of his childhood days in different countries because of the fact that his father was a military officer, and his family had to travel a lot. Owing to this fact, he also got fluent in many languages which include Italian, German, Spanish, etc. He completed his mass communication bachelor’s degree from the Andres Bello Catholic University situated in Caracus in the year 1999.


Though acting was never his priority during his college days, he was interested in making short films with his friends. It was during one of the film festivals in which a short film starring him was premiered that he got noticed by the Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, a screenwriter. He offered the Ramirez a role in his movie Amores Perros, but Ramirez rejected the offer in favour of Harvard National Model UN. The film went on to grab many critical acclaims and was the winner of many prizes. This was the time when Ramirez decided to try acting and begin his acting career.

He got his debut role in a television show Costa Rica where he played the role of Cacique Chacon in the year 2003. In the same year, he did a movie named Yotama se va volando where he played the role of Manuel Zozaya.In the year 2005, he went on to do another television show Ser Bonita no basta in which he had a small role of Leonardo. In the same year, he got a big break when he was cast as Choco in the movie Domino. His most famous role until now has been in the 2007 movie The Bourne Ultimatum where he portrayed the role of Paz. He also won many awards for the movie Carlos the Jackal where he played the role of Carlos in the year 2010. He has worked in several films which includes El Don as Alvaro in 2006, Ellipsis as Sebastian Castillo in 2006, Vantage Point as Javier in 2008, Wrath of the Titans as Ares in 2012, Zero Dark Thirty as Larry in 2012, The Libertador as Simon Bolivar in 2014, Joy as Tony Marianne in 2015 and Hands of Stone as Roberto Duran in 2016. Currently, he is working on two movies, Gold where he plays the role of Michael Acosta and The Girl on the Train where he plays the role of Dr Kamal Abdic.

He was said to be in a relationship with Nereida Solis, but the couple has broken up now according to the rumours. There is no news of him being married or having a wife. There is no information about any divorce or children. His curly hairstyle is very charismatic. He has won and has been nominated for many awards in his career which includes Cesar Award, Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and Emmy Award. According to his biography, his net worth is $35 million dollars.
