Dennis Dexter Haysbert, popularly known as Dennis Haysbert, came to life on June 2nd 1954. He is a Native American and was born in San Mateo, California, United States. He was born to his parents Gladys, who was a homemaker by profession, and Charles Whitney Haysbert, Sr., who was a security guard at an airport by profession. Dennis is 6' 4½" (1.94 m) tall and is known for his handsome personality with tall height, strong physique and deep voice. He had an active interest in sports since childhood and even was the part of school football team. Apart from Football, he likes to play tennis, golf and likes to do scuba diving as well.

Dennis has 8 siblings, 7 of them being elder to him. Dennis did his high school from San Mateo High School. Post his high school he had an option to pursue his career either in sports or to go forward and work towards acting. Dennis chose the latter and did his graduation in studying acting from American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Post his graduation he started participating in many theatre and dramas and won much appreciation there. Dennis has also been married twice in the past. He was married to his first wife ‘Elena Simms’ in 1980, however they both separated in 1984 because of some internal differences. Later on Dennis married ‘Lynn Griffith’ in 1989 and they both had 2 children as well. However after a long relation of 12 years, they both separated in 2001.
According to his bio, Dennis started his professional career with a short cameo role in the TV show named ‘Lou Grant’ where he appeared in one of its episodes. Later on Dennis made his movie debut with the movie named ‘Scoring’ in 1979. Later on in 1980’s he appeared in many of the TV shows in small roles or in 1 or 2 episodes. He did some TV shows like ‘The White Shadow’, ‘The Incredible Hulk’, ‘Buck Rogers in the 25th Century’, ‘Galactica 1980’, ‘Grambling's White Tiger’ and many others. However Dennis rose to fame with his major break in the movie named ‘Major League’ in 1989. The movie went on to become a major hit at the box office and was nominated for many awards as well. Dennis role in the movie was much appreciated and he established himself amongst the top actors because of the movie. Dennis also worked in the subsequent sequels of the movie going forward. Later on Dennis worked in over 30 movies and he was much appreciated in all of his performances.
On TV, Dennis is particularly known for his TV show ‘24’ which came out in 2001 and went on till 2006. Dennis role gained much applause from the critics and the audience. Dennis was nominated for multiple awards including Golden Globe and NAACP Image Award because of his performance in the show. Apart from movies and TV, Dennis has also appeared in many TV commercials for Allstate Insurance Company. Dennis has also been giving his voice to many video games in the past.
