Colleen McVey was born in the United States. She was born as the eldest child of her parents. She grew up with her two siblings, a brother and a sister. She was more close to her sister than her brother. She belonged from a lower middle class family. Her father was a taxi driver and her mother worked as an accountant. So affording the expenses of three children was a bit tough for them. Her mother also did some fashion designing work from home for a fashion boutique. Colleen learnt some threading work from her mother and it helped her in designing.
Colleen even helped her mother in completing her household chores. As a child, she was very responsible and helpful. She also took care of her siblings, in the absence of her parents. She even taught them several lessons during their initial years. She has always played the role of a responsible sister for her siblings. Colleen went to local school. The facilities were not great in the school and there were no classes for any cultural activities. Her parents unfortunately did not have enough money to send her in a good school.
Colleen completed her high school education from this school only. She used to do a few part time jobs while pursuing her high school education to help her family financially. After getting a scholarship from the school for her brilliant results, she decided to pursue journalism. Her entire university education was funded by her school and thus, her parents did not need to spend a penny for her higher education. While pursuing journalism, Colleen used to host events and functions to earn money. It was then when she discovered her anchoring skills.
After completing her university education, Colleen was appointed as an intern by a news channel. She received the required training and gained a little experience for her future career. Initially, she was not appointed as a journalist of the news channel and was given the job of a news writer. She never denied and tried to deal with whatever challenge came in her way. After that, she served as a journalist in this channel for two years.
She left the news channel after this and joined the popular news channel, News 12. The News 12 channel has been counted in the top 5 list and she felt very proud of the fact that she worked as a journalist in this channel. Colleen also serves as a news anchor in the channel. She is still working in this news channel and receives a very good salary which has increased her net worth. She is very dedicated towards her career and does not share much information about her personal life in the social media.
