Possessing American nationality, Christian Michael Leonard Slater was born on 18th August, 1969 to Michael Hawkins and Mary Jo Slater. His birth place is New York City. His father was already an established actor while his mother is a film producer. He has a half-brother named Ryan Slater who also happens to be an actor. His uncle Bill Slater was a radio personality. He studied from three different schools namely the Professional Children’s School, the Dalton School and the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music and Arts.
Christian Slater married Ryan Haddon, the daughter of Dayle Haddon in 2000. They have two children named Eliana Sophia and Jaden Christopher. Ryan Haddon was arrested in 2003 for assaulting Christian at a Hard Rock Café. If reports are to be believed, Ryan threw a bottle at Christian’s neck. This further led to many conflicts and the two decided to sign a divorce in 2007. Slater later went on to marry his long time girlfriend Brittany Lopez in December 2013.

Christian Slater’s debut role in television was on the ABS soap opera called ‘One Life to Live’. He was only 8 years old when he got this chance. He then made his Broadway debut opposite Dick Van Dykein in the revival of ‘The Music Man’. Other Broadway credits of Slater include ‘Macbeth’, ‘Merlin’, ‘Copperfield’, ‘The Glass Menagerie’ and ‘Side Man’. He made his debut in big screen in ‘The Legend of Billie Jean’ in which he portrayed Binx, Billie Jean’s brother. Despite gaining a cult following, this film turned out to be average. He then played in several films such as ‘The Name in the Rose’, ‘Gleaming the Cube’, ‘Tucker: The Man and His Dream’ and ‘Beyond the Stars’.
Christian got his big break by playing J.D. in the film ‘Heathers’ alongside Winona Ryder, which got released in 1989.
