Catherine Tappen was born in the year 1981 on April 9th. She was born in New Jersey and was the only daughter of her parents. She belonged from a middle class family. Her parents could not provide her with a luxurious life but as she was the only child and had no other siblings, she was always taken much care. Her father was a news reporter and her mother was a singer. Tappen always wanted to be a singer as she was a very good singer. She always got encouraged by her mother and also took music lessons from her.
Besides these, she loved outdoor sports. She even played soccer and badminton from her childhood days. She was chosen as the captain of the women’s soccer team in her school. Her father was a badminton player and he used to coach her, to play badminton. She even participated i national level badminton tournaments and also secured many honours and certifications.
Later, she attended the Rutgers University to pursue her formal education. She studied journalism from the University to try further career opportunities as a sportscaster. In the year 2009, she got married to Jay Leach. He is a popular NHL defenseman and the couple met through a common friend. They dated each other for three long years before tying the knot. But the relationship did not go further and the couple filed a divorce in the year 2015. It has been recorded that the main reason behind their divorce was a serious misunderstanding. Career
Catherine Tappen initially started her career with College Sports Television. She had vast knowledge about sports and media and also had the talents of a host. It was her knowledge which helped her to get the first job as a sportscaster. In this channel, she used to visit different colleges and institutions to host different sports event. She was always full of energy which made her popular among her young followers.
Soon she received many promotions in the channel. After working there for some years, she left the channel to join WJAR as the directorial head of their sports team. She worked there for several years and then joined the New England Sports Network (NESN). She was offered the same position as the WJAR but the salary was higher than the previous one. She soon left the channel when she got an appointment letter from the NHL Tonight in the year 2011.
She worked with the channel for quite a long time. She held a very good position in the channel but after a few years, she had to face a lot of harassment in the channel due the controversy of her divorce.
