Early Life and Beginning of Career

Ai Miyazato was born on June 19, 1985 at Higashi, Okinawa in Japan. Her parents were a simple Japanese couple. She has two older brothers, both of whom are professional golfers too. They are Kiyoshi Miyazato and Yusaku Miyazato. They influenced Ai Miyazato to take up professional golfing too, though golf was not actually considered to be a women’s sport.

She played as an amateur in 2003 with the LPGA Japan Tour. Here itself, she won her first professional trophy. She went on to participate in Miyagi at the Dunlop Ladies Open while she was still in high school.

As a Professional Golfer

Miyazato’s popularity as a professional golfer in 2004 when she was still in her sophomore year. In this year, she won no less than five events at the Japan LPGA tour. Then the Women’s World Cup of Golf happened and Miyazato made her debut in that, representing her country Japan. Her partner was Rui Kitada. This was an amazingly successful debut, where she won six victories in all. Her number in the Japanese golfing circuit rose to number 2. She held several records at this stage itself, including the record of being the youngest player to win a major LPGA Japan victory ever.

This brought her international recognition and she was sent to play LPGA internationally at Florida. In 2006, she had four out of five victories. Her first international victory was against Sophie Gustafson of Sweden at the Evian Masters in France.

Several major victories followed. By 2009, she was placed at number 1 in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, a place which she still occupies.

She rank at 101 globally for her driving distance. Her average at present is reported to be 251.844. She is known for a powerful driving swing.

Personal Life

Not much is known about Ai Miyazato’s personal life in the public domain. Currently she is 30 years old and is 5’1” in height. There is no information regarding her marriage or of her being involved in any relationship. She also leads more or less of a private life and does not speak about her personal relationships much. Though she has accounts on Twitter and Instagram, she is not much active on those portals.

This reserved personality has, however, appeared on a few television shows. She has appeared in a Japanese series known J-Spo and Tetsuko’s Room. On both shows, she appeared as herself. Her Women’s British Open was also widely televised and shown.
