Shemar Franklin Moore was born on April 20, 1970 in Oakland, California. His parents are Marilyn Wilson and Sherrod Moore. He is of mixed ethnicity, his father African American, while his mother is Irish. He also has sibling Sheburra Moore, Shenon Moore, Romeo Moore and Kosheno Moore. At first he attended a British private school as a senior.


In the middle of 70s, his family lived abroad because of racism in the USA. They moved back only in the 1977. He studied at the Gunn High School in Palo Alto. Afterwards, he enrolled in the Santa Clara University. In College he played baseball in college and also dreamed of a professional baseball career. Later he graduated with a Degree in communication, minoring in theatre arts. He had some problems with money during his College time, so he modeled for a while to pay his College bills.

After his short modeling career, he decided to become an actor and after his study, he moved to New York City to pursue an acting career. He made his first appearance in the TV series “The Young and the Restless” in the 1994. In the 1995 he appeared with an episodic role of Jon Marc in the TV series “Living Single”.

He got his breakthrough time after he joined to the cast of popular detective television series “Criminal Minds” in the 2005. His role of Derek Morgan brought to him a huge level of fame. He played Freddy Roland in the 1998 movie “Butter”. In the 2001 he played the role of Terry White in the film “The Brothers”. In the 2004 he appeared in the movies like “Motives” and “Greener” as well as in the TV series “Half & Half”. He appeared as Orlando in the romantic comedy-drama movie “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” in the 2005.

In the 2007 he appeared with his old role of Emery Simms in the second part of the movie “Motives”. In the 2013 he appeared in the film “Kill Me, Deadly” as Bill the Piano Player. He tried himself as a voice actor in the project of “Justice League: War” and “Justice League: Throne of Atlantis” in the 2014 and 2015. The last project of Shemar was a romantic comedy movie “The Bounce Back”, where he played the role of Matthew Taylor and also was a film director. It was released on December 9, 2016.

He received an Image Award for Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama Series three times every year from 1998-2000. He also won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor. It seems like he is not married yet. He is a very private person and does not expose his relationship, regarding his girlfriend, wife and so on. He also was an active in charity and got involved in volunteer work with local charities. He has an estimated net worth of that whopping $12 million dollars and also earns a massive salary.
