Ron Magers was born in the year 1944 and he is a former news anchor. He worked before at ABC owned and operated station of Chicago in Illinois. He was co-anchor for a top-rated 5:00 pm and of 10.00 pm broadcasts together with Kathy Brock and Cheryl Burton. He is a brother of Paul Magers who is a television reporter and anchor of KCBS-TV. It is a CBS operated and owned station based in Los Angeles.


From his biography, Ron Magers grew up in the city of Cordova of Alaska and then in Ellensburg of Washington. He gained the broadcasting experience when he was still in high school at Toppenish of Washington. This is where she started the career like a radio host at part time basis. He started the career with television in the year 1965 and it was in Eugene, Oregon at KEZI-TV. This is when he was a news contributor and a reporter.

Afterwards, he anchored and produced the 11 pm newscast of KGW-TV based in the city of Portland in Ore. In 1968, he joined KPIX-TV where he was an anchor and a reporter in the San Francisco of California. He was the host of Group W 30 minutes as a weekly syndicated program in the year 1971 named Ron Magers Electric Impression.

Ron Magers moved into Minnesota and this is where he got hired to be a principal anchor of KSTP-TV, an ABC formerly called NBC. It was an affiliate of Minneapolis in Saint Paul since 1974 until 1981. Afterwards, he joined the co-anchor Cyndy Brucato. It is a popular anchor team that was led by a top rated Twin Cities Newscast during that period.

Since 1981 until 1997, Ron Magers was the co-anchor of 5, 6 and 10 pm newscast for WMAQ-TV and he was then a co-anchor of Carol Marin but they made the headlines when they decided to leave the Channel 5. This was because the station had decided to hire Jerry Springer to be a commentator of 10:00 pm newscast. The WMAQ, decided to let the two get early release away of their contracts. However Springer only made few commentaries and then left this position.

Ron Magers had won many awards and they include six Chicago Emmy Awards, National Press Club Citation and Peter Lisagor Award. He won the Associated Press, Ohio State Award and Illinois Broadcaster Association with Ethics Awards of Society of Professional Journalist.

Ron Magers’ wife is Elise Magers but it is not clear when they got married. They have three children, all daughters; they are Kendal Hewitt, Tracy Magers and Tia Koso.
