Born on February 17, 1956, to father Gene Wilson and mother Louise Wilson in Seattle, Washington, Richard Karn Wilson spent most of his childhood days growing up with his sister Sue Wilson in Seattle. He did his schooling from the Roosevelt High School. It was in school that his interest in acting was ignited. He then went on to attend the University of Washington where he received a B.F.A. in their Professional Actor Training Program. He shifted to New York in the year 1979 after the completion of his degree in drama. He got his first break in a Super Bowl commercial of beer in the year 1980.


He got his television debut in the year 1991 when he was cast for the role of Al Borland in the television sitcom Home Improvement. He then went on to do several television shows in his career which includes hosting the 1996 show WOW! The Most Amazing Acts on Earth, Dirt as Holt McLauren’s father, Boy Meets World as Animal Control Officer, That ‘70s Show as Theo, Host and narrator of Foot Soldier in 1998, Co-Host of Bingo America in 2008, True Jackson, VP as Fire Marshal O’Dannon in 2010 and Last Man Standing as Bill McKendree in 2013. In the year 2006, he began hosting the popular show Family Feud succeeding Louie Anderson. He hosted the show until the year 2006.

He made his movie debut in the year 1995 when he was cast for the role of George Thomas in the movie Picture Perfect. He then went on to do several movies which includes Bram Stoker’s Legend of Mummy as Brice Renard in the year 1997, The Pooch and the Pauper as Agent Danville in 1999, MVP 2: Most Vertical Primate as Ollie Plant in 2001, Sex and the Teenage Mind as Stanley Heitmeyer in 2002, Reality School as Victor Cayenne in 2002, Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch as Patrick in 2002, Air Buddies as Patrick in 2005, Mr. Blue Sky as John in 2006, Snow Buddies as Patrick in 2008, Poolboy: Drowning Out the Fury as Bill Witherspoon in 2011 and A Daughter’s Nightmare as Cameron Morgan in 2014.

He also appeared in the video music Someday by The Strokes in the year 2002 and was also a temporary host on the GSN Radio. He turned into an author in the year 1999 when he co-authored the book House Broken: How I Remodelled My Home for Just Under Three Times the Original Bid. He published another book in the year 2002 titled Handy at Home: Tips on Improving Your Home from America’s Favorite Handyman.

In the year 2016, there were rumours about Richard Karn’s death, but this news was later confirmed as a hoax. He married Tudi Roche, who is also an actress in the year 1985. Richard and his wife have been together for about 30 years. They are proud parents of a son named Cooper Karn Wilson. According to his biography, his salary is pretty high with a net worth of $10 Million dollars.
