Personal life

Throwing some light on Orlando Bloom’s early life, let us recall that he was born on 13th January, 1977 in Canterbury, Kent. When Orlando was thirteen, it was revealed to him by his mother that his biological father was Colin Stone, who happened to be his mother’s family friend and partner. Colin Stone became Orlando’s legal guardian after his assumed father Harry died. Orlando’s mother Sonia Constance Josephine was born in India in the city of Kolkata. Orlando’s mother’s family lived in various countries including Japan, Australia and India and belonged to English descent.

Orlando Bloom was raised up in the Church of England. He went to St. Peter’s Methodist Primary School and then he proceeded on to St. Edmund’s school, which is based in Canterbury. Bloom was discovered to have dyslexia and it was his mother who became his biggest support in his difficult times. She persuaded Orlando to take drama and art classes. He moved to London in the year 1993 to pursue a two-year course in photography, drama and sculpture in Hampstead. This was followed by joining the National Youth Theatre where he spent two seasons and earned a scholarship to practice acting at the renowned British American Drama Academy.

Bloom started dating a famous Australian model Miranda Kerr in 2007. The couple announced their engagement in June 2010. They tied the knot the following month and were blessed with a son in January 2011. Unfortunately, the couple decided to part ways in 2013.

Career

Orlando Bloom first appeared on the big screen in a small role in the film ‘Wilde’, which was released back in 1997. He was given his first major role just two days after he graduated from Guildhall in 1999 when he was asked to play Legolas in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy. During this period, he also played a small role in Ridley Scott’s ‘Black Hawk Down’. He later starred alongside Johnny Depp and Keira Knightley in the famous ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl’, which was a super hit film back in 2003. Then he took the role of Paris, the man who started the Trojan War in movie ‘Troy’. Subsequently, he played lead roles in ‘Elizabethtown’ and ‘Kingdom of Heaven’.

In the year 2006, Bloom starred in the sequel “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” and also in ‘Haven’. He was one of the guest stars in ‘Extras’, in which he played a very arrogant version of himself who despised Johnny Depp. Apart from the various awards that he won, Bloom was the most searched male on Google News back in 2006, which is something he will always be proud of. Later in 2007, Bloom portrayed Will Turner in “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”.
