Mike Myers is a talented actor, comedian, singer and screenwriter who has won four American Comedy awards for playing ‘Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me’. He was the voice behind the success of the famous character ‘Shrek’.


Personal life

Mike Myers was born on 25th May in 1963 in a suburban district of Toronto called Scarborough. He holds U.S., Canadian and British citizenship. His father Eric Myers was an insurance agent while his mother Alice E. was a veteran of the Royal Air Force. They were both British, hailing from Liverpool. Mike has two elder brothers. One of them is Peter, who is an employee of Sears Canada while the other is named Paul, who is a rock singer and songwriter.

Mike Myers began his acting career during his teenage years by appearing in commercials. He grew up in the two districts of Toronto named Scarborough and North York. He studied at Sir John A. Macdonald Collegiate Institute when he was in Scarborough. He later graduated in 1982 from Stephen Leacock Collegiate Institute. After graduating from high school, Mike joined the popular Chicago-based comedy clan ‘Second City’. Later, he went to London to pursue comedy but had to return back to his home in Toronto as his father got diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Mike married actress Robin Ruzan in 1993 whom he met at a hockey match. The couple ended their long relationship in December 2005, when they filed for a divorce. Mike began dating Kelly Tisdale the following year and the two married in a private ceremony in 2010. They have three children named Sunday, Paulina and Spike. Apart from comedy and acting, Mike is an ardent sports fan as well. He follows several sports and sometimes appears in celebrity matches as well. He supports the Toronto Maple Leafs in hockey and Liverpool F.C. in football.

Career

Mike Myers first appeared in a local commercial when he was just a couple of years old. He then appeared in another commercial for British Columbia Hydro when he was ten. He made a guest appearance on the television series ‘King of Kensington’ aged only twelve. Growing up, Mike was more inclined towards comedy than he was towards acting. This is why he chose to enroll himself into ‘Second City’ before moving to the U.K. where he founded ‘The Comedy Store Players’.

Mike starred in a kid’s television program ‘Wide Awake Club’ in 1986. He returned back to ‘Second City’ in the same year before moving to Chicago in 1988 to train and perform at the ‘Improv Olympic’. Mike made several appearances on Toronto’s CityTv on a show called ‘City limits’ which was hosted by Christopher Ward. Mike appeared as Wayne Campbell in a music video named ‘Boys and Girls’. Wayne Campbell character was also featured in “It’s Only Rock & Roll”, a famous summer series in 1986. Mike wrote ‘Kurt and Dieter’, which turned into the famous ‘Sprockets’ sketch on Saturday Night Live. Mike Myers has been working on various platforms for over four decades. This is why it’s of no surprise that his net worth is $175 million.
