Alex Borstein was born in the year 1971 on February 15th. She grew up with her siblings in Highland Park, Illinois in the United States. She and her two elder brothers lived with their parents Judy Borstein and Irv. While growing up, she has received a Jewish upbringing. Both her parents belonged to the same profession and worked as mental health professionals. She hardly got any time to spend with her parents as they remained busy most of the time.

She spent most of her time with her elder brothers and had a strong bond with them. She went to a local school in the suburb of Chicago which was just a few miles away from her home. From early childhood days, she used to write poems. She grew up to be a very good writer and also wrote various scripts for her school play. She also took great interest in acting. She participated in many drama events of her school where she played the lead role. Besides this, she was also very good in studies.

After completing her high school education, she went to the San Francisco State University. She went to the university to study the bachelor's degree. She also pursued a training at the ACME Comedy Theatre where she took the training for becoming a comedian. She never left her passion for writing while she was pursuing the career. She also wrote an animated series with Jackson Douglas, Casper and Pinky and the Brain.

She did many part time jobs as a writer for her pocket money. She became a full time writer after completing her university education. She imparted the role of a voice actor for the voice of Queen Machina on the Power Rangers Zero show. She has also worked with the cast of MADtv, a sketch comedy show. She is famous for her notable character play such as Ms. Swan. After achieving a lot of popularity, she became a staff writer and also a producer. She appeared in an animated program Drawn Together on the Comedy Central. She appeared in the drama Glimore Girls in the role of Sookie St. James.

She appeared in major roles in the films like Dinner for Schmucks and Killers. In The Lizzie McGuire Movie, she appeared as the school principal. She gained a lot of fame from her appearance in the films Good Luck, Catwoman, Kicking & Screaming and many more. She has also hosted the comedy shows such as Bunk, For Christ’s Sake, Shameless and also a charity show Celebrity Blackjack. She has also received a number of awards and nominations. She was first married to Jackson Douglas but the couple got divorced soon. She also became the mother of a son and a daughter from Jackson Douglas.
