Born on October 20, 1970, to father Apolo DeCastro Maglalang and mother Rafeela Maglalang in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Michelle Malkin spent most of her childhood days in Absecon in New Jersey where she and her family shifted to after her birth. Malkin did her initial schooling from the Holy Spirit Roman Catholic High School and graduated from there in the year 1988. While in school she was interested in becoming a pianist and had training in it. After graduating from school, she went on to attend Oberlin College situated in Ohio. After going for music as her major, she changed it in favour of English. She graduated from Oberlin College with a bachelor’s degree in English in the year 1992. She belongs to Philippine ethnicity, and her religion is Roman Catholic.


While in college she joined conservative independent campus newspaper as a writer and her first published article for this newspaper was a criticism against the Oberlin’s affirmative action program. After her graduation, she did her internship with NBC for a short time and then went on to work as a columnist for the Los Angeles Daily News. It was here that she made her journalism career debut, and she started working here in the year 1992. After leaving Los Angeles Daily News in the year 1994, she started working for the Competitive Enterprise Institute situated in Washington DC. She shifted to Seattle in the following year and started working for the Seattle Times. The turning point in her career came in the year 1999 when she started working as a columnist for the Creators Syndicate. It was working with Creators Syndicate which helped her establish herself as a nationally acclaimed syndicated columnist.

She worked as a political commentator for several years with the Fox News Channel. She also became the guest host of The O’Reilly Factor and was frequently seen on the show. Following a dispute with the channel, she stopped working in The O’Reilly Factor in the year 2007. After this, she was seen on television very little. She was seen weekly on Fox and Friends and even appeared on FOX News with Sean Hannity. After her television stint, she went on to write books and do blogging. She established two internet web sites Hot Air and Twitchy.com. She was also the founder of her political blog in the year 2004 which was named MichelleMalkin.com. She began her career as an author with the New York Times bestseller book Invasion: How America Still Welcomes Terrorists, Criminals, and Other Foreign Menaces in the year 2002. Her second book In Defense of Internment: The Case for Racial Profiling in World War II and the War on Terror in 2004 received a lot of wrath from the Asian-American civil rights organisations. Her third book titled Unhinged: Exposing Liberals Gone Wild in 2005 became the New York Times Non-Fiction, Hardcover Bestseller.

She married her long-time boyfriend, Jesse Malkin in the year 1993. Michelle and her husband Jesse are proud parents of two children. There is no news of any conflict between them and about any divorce. According to her biography, her salary is very high with a net worth of about $22 Million dollars.
