Personal Life
Maura West was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, US and was raised Ludlow, in Massachusetts, as the youngest of four children. At the age of 18, she changed her last name to her mother's maiden named West. She went to Boston University's School of Fine Arts, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in the early 1990's.
She was previously married to Jonathan Knight, a member of New Kids on the Block an American boy band, in 1995. A year later, she gave birth to her eldest, Benjamin Knight, in June. But after living together with Jonathan Knight they eventually sought a divorce in 1999. In 2000, she then remarried, Scott DeFreitas, her co-star on the sets of "As The World Turns" after he proposed to her at Yankee Stadium, popping the questions on the gigantic video screen in the center field which is utilized to show player details and the score.
She then gave birth to her second son, Joseph Peter DeFreitas or Joe West, brought him forth in 29th of March 2000, “A Baby Story” a 1998 reality series televised on TLC and Discovery Channel. Joe west soon followed in his mother’s footsteps and became a Broadway actor himself. And Maura and Scott had three more children namely, Katherine Marie West DeFreitas, Basil John DeFreitas, and Birdie West DeFreitas.
Career
Fresh out of college, Maura West already started her acting career on television in her early twenties. She began her profession in 1995, as Carly Snyder on a soap “As the World Turns” and has been its part for the greater part of the scenes from April 11, 1995, to May 8, 1996. Her remarkable work in “As the World Turns” made her broadly well known among the general the public and could pull in the attention of numerous commentators. It is also where she won two Emmy Awards.
West also portrayed Diane Jenkins on "The Young and the Restless “ a series which mainly centered on two core families where she started from September 2010 but then eventually had been let go from the television soap opera on August 2011. Then in 2013, she started playing as a third actress on "General Hospital" daytime television drama which revolved around two families, the Quartermaines and the Spencers. Her portrayal of the mob heiress, Ava Jerome, won her third Emmy Award on 2015.
