Kristen Wiig

Kristen Wiig was born in the year 1973. She is a producer, writer, comedian and actress of American nationality. She is well known because of the role she had at NBC sketch comedy series show called Saturday Night Live and in films like Ghostbusters, The Martian and Bridesmaids.


According to her biography, she was born in the city of Canandaigua in New York. However, she was raised in the city of Lancaster in Pennsylvania and in Rochester, in New York. She attended University of Arizona and she majored in the Fine Arts. Afterwards, she relocated and went to live in Los Angeles. This is where she started comedy when she became a member of the Troupe named The Groundlings. She made the television debut in the year 2003.

In the following year, she was the star of Christmas comedy film named Unaccompanied Minors. After appearing in tv show series and in supporting role of comedy movies named Adventureland, Paul and Whip it, she become the co-writer of Bridesmaid which was commercially and critically a success.

Kristen Wiig had got eight Emmy Award nominations. She was nominated for Annie Award for Voice Acting for the feature production because of her acting in the Despicable Me 2. In the year 2012, she was nominated for Best Actress-Musical or Comedy award, BAFTA and for Academy Award. She had been nominated for other awards such as The Spoils of Babylon and Primetime Emmy Awards.

Kristen Wiig was born to Jon Wigg, who ran the Lake Marina of West New York. Her mother is Laurie who is artist. The father has Irish and Norwegian ancestry while the mother has Scottish and English ancestry. Her name is from Norway.

Kristen Wiig lived in Lancaster of Pennsylvania and the family moved there when she was only 3 years old. Afterwards, she moved to Nitrauer Elementary School and then at Manheim Township Middle School. When the family moved to Rochester, in New York, she attended Allendale Columbia School.

While growing up, she had no ambition of having an acting career and she only took acting class as a requirement for her Art degree. However, the teacher asked her to continue acting.

When she went to Los Angeles to try her luck in acting, she was working in odd jobs in order to support herself. She was performing with Stage Comedy Theater and then The Groundlings. She liked improvisation since she thinks it is better compared to acting. Being a part of this comedy group required skills. She then appeared on The Joe Schmo Show. The spoof of reality show where she was playing as Dr Pat.

As for her, personal life, Wiig got married to Hayes Hargrove, an actor. They married in 2005 and divorced in 2009. Her net worth is 16 million dollars. She is available on social media where her fans follow her.
