Combs originally broke into the music scene was Puff Daddy in the mid 90s. During that era, there was a top hip hop rapper named Biggie Smalls that was very popular. Before he made it, he would rap in front of liquor stores and town parties. When Puff Daddy signed the rising star to his record label, he put all of his marketing resources into making sure that people were aware of his star pupil. Biggie Smalls became a huge success before he was murdered.

His death came after the death of his rival, Tupac Shakur who was gunned down in the same way that Biggie Smalls was. They both were killed while they were in traveling cars. After his money maker passed away, Puff Daddy became a household name because of his tributes to his slain friend. He sampled an old song by The Police and used the beat to create a rap song called I’ll Be Missing You. In the music video, Puff Daddy enlists the help of many hip hop artists who wanted to pay their respects to Biggie Smalls.

With the newfound momentum, Puff Daddy shifted the mission of his record label. When he was promoting Biggie Smalls, he thought he would just stay behind in the scenes and in the background as Biggie Smalls carried their record label. He became a public figure after the success of his tribute songs to Biggie Smalls. He decided that he would become a permanent rapper. A lot of people didn’t respect his rapping ability but they gave him credit for being a music producer.

Puffy went on to have a very successful career that included reinventing himself whenever he had a new challenge like creating music for movie soundtracks. Once he accomplished all he could in the hip hop game, he decided to expand his business to include a clothing line and alcoholic drinks.

Kim’s relationship with Combs was much more loving and serious than it was with Sure. She found a life partner in Sean and felt that he would always be there for her. He was her first serious relationship and she had full trust in him. Kim had had a baby boy with Sean Combs and they named him Christian Casey Combs. The couple then had twin daughters on December 21, 2006. They named their twins, D'Lila Star Combs and Jessie James Combs after Kim’s great grandmothers. They now had a full bunch with three children. It was something that Kim always dreamed about. She always wanted a loving family life with a man that she could call her guiding light.

End of the Road

After enjoying on and off relationship for more than a decade, Kim and Sean finally broke up in July 2007. It was a mutual split and they left each other with the best wishes for each other’s lives and careers. Their relationship just wasn’t working out and there wasn’t any way to fix it. Kim said that they tried their best but they came to a point where they realized the truth. The truth was that as much as they wanted to believe it, they weren’t a good fit. Since they had children together, they wanted to make it work. They didn’t want to give up but in the end, it would be too much of a hassle and unnecessary effort to stay together since they no longer were in love. They needed closure and they got that when they broke up.

After the news broke, Kim took some time before she revealed that  Combs cheated on her by fathering another baby with another woman. She described the moment that she was fed up and wanted to end things, "As Black women we sacrifice, we stand by our man, through thick and thin, through whatever. But if you feel like, 'Maybe I am getting the short end of the stick,' that's when a change has to take place."
