Jim Nantz was born on May 17, 1959 in North Carolina. He is known as a famous American sportscaster who delivered the news of various sports updates along with the breaking tidbits of the one and only National Football League.


Background

Jim is also known as James William Nantz. Jim’s father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and he passed away in 2008.

Jim’s childhood was spent in Louisiana and New Jersey. Since his childhood, he was very interested in sports. This is demonstrated by the fact that he was the co-captain of his high school’s basketball team. Not just basketball, he was also the co-captain of his high school’s golf team. He was also one of the best golf players. Jim was also associated with Bamm Hollow Country Club. Later, Jim joined the University of Houston in Texas. His major in college was broadcasting. At the university, Jim also played for the Houston Cougar men’s golf team.

Career

Jim started his career way back in 1982 as sports caster and later in 1985 Jim decided to join CBS network. When he joined CBS, he hosted college’s football and basketball games from the studio itself. In 1989, Jim was given the responsibility of covering the Masters Tournament.

In 2004, Jim became CBS’s play by play announcer and this time he was not hosting the games from the studio but he was in the stadium booth along with Phil Simms. Jim also became the play by play announcer of Super Bowl XLI in 2007. Later in 2014, Jim got the opportunity to be the announcer for the National Football League.

Jim’s success can be judged by the awards he won. Jim was honored with Emmy Award twice for the category ‘Outstanding Sports Personality’. He won the Emmy Award in 2008 and 2009. Jim was also awarded with the National Sports Caster of the year award. He was honored with this award for 5 different times.

Personal Life

Jim married Ann-Lorraine Carlsen Nantz in 1983. Ann-Lorraine gave birth to Jim’s daughter after the marriage but unfortunately their marriage did not work out and they divorced each other in 2009. The divorce court ordered Jim to pay alimony to his ex-wife and the amount of alimony was decided to be 916,000 US Dollars per year. Custody of Jim’s daughter was given to his wife. The divorce cost Jim a fortune.

Later in June 2012, Jim decided to get married again. This time he married Courtney Richards. Their grand marriage ceremony was held at Pebble Beach in California. Jim’s family was completed in 2016 when his wife gave birth to a baby boy. Now Jim is living with his wife and 2 children.

Jim was not only associated with sports but he was also into wine making. Jim along with another wine producer launch a wine brand called ‘The Calling’ which is a vintage wine brand.

Jim’s salary is almost 5 million dollars per year and his net worth is estimated to be around the same amount.
