Danny Kanell

Danny Kanell, a former American football player was born as Daniel Kanell on 21st November 1973 at Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He used to play as an American football quarterback in the National football league and Arena football league. He has also been on a show “Russillo & Kanell” as an analyst and a host. He has also appeared on two more shows on ESPN. After leaving ESPN in 2017, he is now working at CBS sports, Fox sports 1 and SiriusXM.


Personal Life

Danny was born to Dan and Diane Kanell in Florida. He grew up with three siblings named Daryl Kanell, Debbie Kanell, and Dana Kanell. He attended Fort Lauderdale Westminster high school in his early years. He started to play football in high school and let Westminster to a record win in the state championship. Later he went to Florida state university in 1992. During his degree, he played football professionally and kept on occupying his position as a quarterback for 4 years. Kanell used to play baseball at the college level. He was drafted in the 1993 Major League Baseball by New York Yankees and played 2 games in seven seasons.

Danny’s biography contains different facts from his life. He was involved with a famous journalist Whitney Casey for 8 years before committing to her current wife. He is married to Courtenay Kanell and has 3 daughters. Occasional social media posts reveal that 45 years old Danny is enjoying his life with his loving family. He has never been through a divorce.

Career

As Danny maintained his position as quarterback for 4 years in university, he played 35 games and kept a fairly good percentage of 62.2% of his 851 pass attempts. He got an honorable mention during his last season at Florida State. He has been associated with the different team throughout his career. In 1993, he joined the New York Yankees after the 14th draft. Later in 1996, he was drafted by the New York Giants and participated in the season.

Kanell gave an impressive performance that season. In the next season, Danny got a great deal from New York Giants for 3 years in the amount of 9.5 million dollars. However, that deal fell apart later as Danny was cut by the New York Giants. He went on playing for the Atlanta Falcons. He didn’t last there for a very long time though, in fact, in 2001 he played minor baseball leagues. In 2002, he played for New York Dragons in AFL.

In 2000 when Kanell left Atlanta Falcons, his football career was not growing so well. Although he kept on going and for a short time played for the Denver Broncos. Later in 2004 he announced his retirement and joined ESPN as an analyst on a show where he was a host too. His contract at ESPN ended in April 2017 and joined FOX Sports 1. Currently, he is hosting a show at SiriusXM.

As Danny has been in different teams and also on the media, his estimated net worth is 2 million dollars. He has not won many prominent awards yet back in his years he won the Heisman trophy and Walter camp awards.
