Brandy Norwood is a popular singer. She has also written several songs. She is also a well-known actress and producer.


Brandy Norwood was born in the year 1979 on February 11th in United States. She was brought up by her parents. Her father Willie Norwood was a famous choir director as well as a singer and her mother Sonja Norwood worked for H&R Block as the district manager. She has music in her genes as both her cousins were rappers. She had received a Christian culture and her singing lessons began with the church choir.

She had received the musical training from her father and when she was only two years old, she performed her first gospel solo. She developed a knack for singing from then. She got so much involved in singing that she made it her priority. So much enthusiasm encouraged her father to send her to Hollywood High Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles to learn more about music. When she was only seven years old, she became a follower of the famous singer Whitney Houston. Though she had minimal knowledge about stage performances, her knowledge regarding music was wide. From the age of eleven, she started appearing on the stage and also in some talent hunt shows.

She started an early musical career. At the age of eleven, she received the offer to work as a backing vocalist for Teaspoon Productions. The production house was very impressed with her working style and dedication.  After that, she started working with the Atlantic Recording Corporation and signed a contract.

It seemed very hard for her to manage her studies and her passion as well as profession. She could not pay much attention to her studies and was dropped out from her high school. She received her education from a private institution and was guided by both her parents. Her first debut album was Thea, aired by ABC where she portrayed the role of the daughter who was brought up by a single mother. Though her acting skills were praised, she was not satisfied with it. She wanted to sing and record her albums which clashed with her shoot timings. So, when the show was cancelled, she was happy.

Williams was a fan of her voice and created a group named Somethin’ for the People with R&B Group and Keith Crouch. The group worked together for a continuous period of eight or nine months and the result was Brandy. It consisted of different rhythms with a mix of hip hop. Brandy attracted the youths and became very popular among them. After the success, she gave many hits to her followers which included Baby, Brokenhearted, I Wanna Be Down and many more. These hits also topped the list of Billboard Hot 100.

Norwood got married in the year 2001 with Robert Smith who is a renowned producer. The couple also has a daughter together but the couple decided to end their relationship after that. When she came out from her marital relationship, she got involved in several affairs but none of them last till now. She is now leading her single life with her daughter.
