Amy Mathews is a famous personality and is a licensed general contractor. She is a well-known for her TV shows like DIY Network's Sweat Equity and Bathroom Renovations and HGTV's Renovation Raiders.


 

Personal life

She was born on May 19, 1973! Matthews has spent most of her childhood years in Robbinssdale, Minnesota. She chose her first career interest in life at the age of 14, when she travelled to repair the homes of some poor families with her church group, which was remarkable in itself. She developed a passion in the next few years and did some fix it up projects with various organizations. Matthew returned to her native land completing her education at Boston University and after getting the degree of American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. Though she carried on with the theaters and operas, she never left her passion. Within a few years, she became a successful licensed contractor and got married to her husband, Aaron Doering. Both of them have a son and are leading a happy married life.

Amy Mathews has always been concerned about her physical health and maintains it and takes great care of it. In the recent past and till now, she has been an icon to her followers for the yogas or asanas she practices. She mainly practices embodied asanas which is based on sensing one’s body, breath and movement. It is a practice of bringing back consciousness with each posture performed. Mathews also practices other types of asanas or yogas and also schedules yoga classes and organises workshops for her followers. She is also the co-writer of the book Yoga Anatomy which is still one of the best-selling yoga book. Amy Mathew presently works with the Habitat for Humanity and the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work project in the cities like New Orleans, Los Angeles, St. Paul, Chiang Mai and Thailand. She was also featured in several popular publications such as Esquire Country Living, Good Housekeeping and the New York Times.

 

Career

Matthews, besides performing in theaters and operas with several famous groups kept moving on towards her goal. She practised her Do It Yourself skills with the Family Handyman magazine. After publishing her several works on different magazines, she started becoming quite famous and cemented her place as a licensed contractor and a home improvement specialist with DIY Network. She also took her career to the film and television world and stepped into mass media with leading roles in four independent feature films and numerous national and regional commercials. She received a lot of appreciation for 3M Scotch Blue Painter’s Tape and Home Advisor as she had left the glimpse of her personal career in them.

Throughout her career life, she has only focused on her career and has made innovative home improvement jobs. She has always loved doing measurements, designings and remodellings and has left her imprints. The TV shows she hosted are still popular among her followers and displays her complete willingness in her profession.
