Born on March 23, 1957, to faher Christopher Plummer and mother Tammy Plummer in New York City situated in United States of America, her full name is Amanda Michael Plummer. Her mother is an actress and her father is also a actor from Canada. At a very young age, her parents got separated and she stayed with her mother. She went on to attend the United Nations International School situated in New York and then went on to study in Middlebury College siuated in Vermont. After her college days, she decided to embrace the same career as her parents. She began pursuing her acting career after graduating from college.  


She started her career in the year 1981 when she got the opportunity of playing the character of Annie in the film Cattle Annie and Little Britches. The turning point in her career was when she played the role of Lydia in the movie The Fisher King in 1991.
