Yolanda Adams

Yolanda Yvette Adams was born on 27 August 1961. Her biography reveals that she is a very popular American gospel singer worldwide. She has well recognized due to her excellent singing talent which is focused on gospel songs. She is also an actor, record producer and a radio host for WLBS radio station. She had been active in the singing profession from the year 1974. She is of 54 but still she has the same charismatic appeal.

In the month of September of the year 2009 she sold up to 4.5 million albums from the year 1991 in the United States of America, and about 8 million albums in the entire world.

On December 11, 2009 Adams was awarded with the title of No. 1 Gospel Artist of the last decade by the Billboard Magazine. Also in the same chart, her album “Mountain High...Valley Low” was recognized as the best gospel album.

She is the oldest in her six siblings. She was born in Houston, Texas. She completed her schooling from Sterling High School which is in Houston in 1979. After completing her graduation from Texas Southern University, she started her career as a school teacher and also as a part-time model. Later on she gave up on teaching and started to work as a full-time lead singer.

She initially used to sing for the church choir. She was then first signed up by “Sound of the Gospel records” and then her first album came up called “Just As I Am” in the year 1987. Then when “Mountain High…Valley Low” album came up in the year 1999, she had not only grabbed the attention of United States but also grabbed the attention of other parts of world. Yalonda was awarded with a Grammy Award for this. In the year 2000, she had launched a Christmas album which was followed by a live album called “The Experience” in 2001, this album made her win a second Grammy Award for “the Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album”. In the year 2011, Yalonda launched her eleventh album “Becoming” for which she was awarded the Best Gospel Artist for the fourth time.

She is a host for a radio program called “The Yolanda Adams Morning show”. In the year 2010, she even launched a book called “Points of Power” which is a book for Christians which tells how to live pure and spirit filled life.

Yalonda has faced quite a few ups and downs in her life. She is a divorced woman. She got married in 1997 to the former NFL player Tim Crawford. They were initially married happily but the things did not go well so they got themselves divorced in the year 2005. She also has an adorable daughter; her name is Taylor Adams Crawford. There were rumors that she was harassed and tortured by her husband Tim making which had lead to miscarriage of her second child.
