Sally Hawkins was born as Sally Cecilia Hawkins on April 27, 1976, in Dulwich borough, London to Jacqui Hawkins and Colin Hawkins. Both her parents belong to Irish Catholic descent and are famous authors and illustrators of more than 150 children books. Sally grew up in Blackheath borough, London along with her older brother, Finbar Hawkins.
Sally used to be an introvert and anxious child. This anxiety increased as the kids of her age didn’t want to be friend with her. They insulted her every now and then since she was a little slow and took time to learn new things. She also had dyslexia due to which she faced difficulty in reading. However, with the help of her parents, she is now dyslexia free so much so that she can memorize a film script in just one day.
In terms of education, Sally went to James Allen’s Girls’ School in Dulwich borough, London. She wanted to be an actress, hence she attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and graduated in the year 1998.

Sally Hawkins started her career with theater plays such as Misconceptions, Romeo and Juliet, The Cherry Orchard, Accidental Death of an Anarchist and A midsummer Night’s Dreamand.
