She was born in Portsmouth, Virginia and is the sole daughter of her father Ronnie and Patricia Elliot her mother. Her mother was a power company dispatcher and her father was a U.S. Marine. Her childhood saw her growing up a church choir singer and therefore singing was engrained even when she was a young kid. She wanted to be performer at the age of four and she did perform for her family even in her young days. Her early days were not exactly very normal and she later talks about domestic abuse by her father.
