Kelly Cherelle Price was born on April 04, 1973 in Queens, New York. She belongs to the African-American ethnicity. She was raised in Far Rockaway, Queens by her mother, her Father died when she was just nine years old. Kelly was inspired by her mother, Claudia, who worked as a musical director of a church. Kelly started her career in singing through her voice in the church through where she was known by her nickname “Little Mahalia Jackson”. Her first professional appearance was in the 1992 at the Madison Square Garden along with George Michael. She released her debut album in the 1998, it was titled “Soul of a Woman”.
She got her breakthrough time due to her hit single “Friend of Mine”. She reached the position of No. 1 hits on the U.S. R&B chart without any music video. During her career she was nominated for a Grammy award for seven times. In addition to her solo career, she reached her popularity being a backing singer for many famous musicians like Faith Evans, R-Kelly, Brian McKnight, Mariah Carey and Aretha Franklin. She also is an active person in charities, like in the case, when she donated $ 250,000 to fight breast cancer.
She is married to Jeffrey Rolle. They exchanged their vows with each other in the 1992.
