Personal Life Jimmy Houston is a Texan born in the city of San Marcos on 28th of July 1944. When he was young his family had shifted to Moore in Oklahoma, he was raised there. Lake Tenkiller became the next neighborhood for the Houston family, Jimmy completed his senior year as a high school student there.
The family owned a resort in Lake Tenkiller, as a boy, he enjoyed spending time outdoors than inside the house, where his hobby of fishing that started off as something to pass time soon became an obsession and eventually he became an expert at it. Houston is an alumnus of the Northeastern Oklahoma State University, Tahlequah, Oklahoma, USA. Growing up he was deeply influenced by the teaching of Jesus Christ and this influence grew as he got older, he talks about his spiritual life in his books.
Even though Jimmy is an amiable and social person, he keeps his personal life private and thereby not much is known about Houston’s family. The only known facts are that he is married to a woman named Chris and he has two children, the family is said to be living in a massive 2000 acre ranch.
Career Jimmy Houston’s childhood obsession for fishing turned him into a professional angler. In 1966, Jimmy made his first win at a professional tournament and didn’t turn back since then. He was the winner of the Angler of the year Crown two times, this award kick-started his career as a television host. His show under his own name entitled Jimmy Houston Outdoors aired on the Sports network ESPN for as long as twenty-one years.
The show was then moved to another network, Outdoor Life Network and further moved to NBC sports. Houston has a huge fan following of about millions, his average number of people watching his show is around 2 million, and he has a follower list of nine thousand on Twitter.
Along with his partners Roland Martin and Bill Dance who are also pro anglers, Houston established himself as a businessman by starting the company ‘Th3 Legends’. The company sells signature products. He is a recipient of multiple awards and achievements in professional fishing competitions; he is a two-time winner of the Toyota Tundra Bass master Angler of the Year, he has qualified fifteen times for the Bassmaster Classic and his popular show Jimmy Houston Outdoors has been airing for more than thirty-five years.
In the world’s largest fishing tournament Fishing League Worldwide, Houston has participated in eighty-three events and three times he came out as one of the top 10 finishers. He has been a part of the Fishing League Worldwide for more than 13 years.Throughout his career, he has published 5 books, few of which have gone on to become best sellers.
