Ivan spent most of his childhood in his hometown, Hawthrone, New Jersey. He is descendent of Italian as well as Dutch ancestors. His childhood schooling took place in a reputed local school named 'The Hawthrone High School'. He was an ace performer in his school, both academics and sports. He was the member of his school's official football, baseball and basketball team. He played as a quarterback for the school's locally reputed 'Hawthrone Cubs Football Club".
His interests in the art of music making is also well known. During his young years, he used to play acoustic guitar. He was respectfully graduated from the school in the year of 1989. Interestingly, he was never very keen on acting during his early years. His passion for art arose years later when he started working for small theatre groups where his talents were widely appreciated.
Ivan was wedded to his lover and good friend, Tanya Sergei in the year 2003. He met her in his high school years. They continued to date for few years before they decided to get married in a private low profile wedding on a beach in Bora Bora. The couple remained married for the next six years before mutually deciding to get a divorce. The reason of divorce is not known as he likes to keep his private life away from the mainstream media.
Career
Although Ivan did many small low budget movies, he became famous only after his role in the popular movie 'Once a Thief' ( Directed by John Woo in the year 1996). He has many successful and many not so successful movies in his bag.
