Grant Imahara

Grant was born on 23 October 1970. He was born in Los Angeles in United States of America. His childhood was spend in California and he completed his schooling from California itself. There is not much of information available about Grant’s parents or his siblings but it is known that He married his girlfriend, Jennifer Newman in 2016. His partner is a costume designer in California. Grant completed his graduation from California and he went to University of Southern California. He was successfully granted his degree in electrical engineering.

It is known that Grant always wanted to work in TV industry hence he also thought of dropping out from engineering and persue his passion. He started his career as an engineer and his first employer was Lucas film. He worked for the organization for over 9 years and he specialized in Industrial Light and Magic division which basically contributed for the visual effects in the movie. His work was highlighted in a lot of super hit movies. Some of the famous movies that he worked for are ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘Terminator’. His work was also showcased in almost all the parts of Star Wars. He was appreciated for his innovative models and original work.

Later, Grant also started working in a show called ‘Myth Busters’. He was a part of the team that used to build models. The show was all about testing the myths and deriving the conclusion about the myth. He had the responsibility of building the robots or other electronics required. He worked for the show till August 2014 after which he left the show along with other cast members. The show was highly popular and in India the show was broadcasted on Discovery Channel. This was not the end. Grant worked in several other TV shows. Another loved TV show that he appeared in was Battle Bots. The show was basically a robot-war competition. Grant also participated in ‘Junkyard Wars’ and he was among the finalist on the episode. The show was about building a machine from the junk and teams were given the details of the machine to be made on the spot. The team used to get about 10 minutes to find the stuff from Junkyard and then they had to create the desired product.

In the later years, grant worked as a spokesperson for Mc Donald’s. He used to answer people’s question about the fast food giant’s food and he used to clear the myths regarding the food. He also made a short film about production of food in the unit. In 2015, he appeared on the show, ‘Dead of Winter: A Cross Roads Game’ and he had also been the advisor for Team USA. He advices the team regarding the concepts and innovation regarding the robots and Robot-War. Grant’s annual salary is not public and his net worth is estimated to be around 1.5 million US Dollars.
