From his biography, Denis Shapovalov was born in the city of Tel Aviv in Israel. His parents are Viktor and Tessa Shapovalov. His mother played in Russian national tennis team and moved to live in Israel when Soviet Union collapsed. She was a tennis coach here. The mother was a Jewish while the father is Russian Eastern Orthodox Christian. Denis was born with one brother named Evgenly and he was born in Tel Aviv also. His family moved to live in Canada before Denis can celebrate his first birthday. They lived in Vaughan in the city of Ontario. He was playing tennis in Richmond Hill Country Club and this is where her mother was working like a coach.
His mother had to leave the job when Denis was not able to get enough playing time and she opened her own academy where she was training young people. His mother is still his coach together with Martin Laurendeau. Denis attended Stephen Lewis Secondary School based in Vaughan. He was nicknamed Shapo. He speaks very well Russian and he did the first interview in Russian for Russian Eurosport commentators. He is now living in the city of Nassau of Bahamas and he plays under Canada. Career
At the age of 13, Denis had more training needs that his mother was not able to handle alone. This is when the family decided to hire Adriano Fuorivia, the former manager for Tennis development under Tennis Canada. He became his personal coach and he was traveling with him, since the family had to stay at home so that they can run the academy. They stayed together with Adriano for 4 years and it lead to many titles including the US open junior doubles and Wimbledon Junior Singles. The first title he won is ITF G5 at Burlington in Ontario.

Denis Shapovalov is dating a Canadian professional swimmer known as Penny Oleksiak. She got four medals for the 2016 summer Olympics and she is the first Canadian athlete who had been able to get four medals in the summer games. Oleksiak was born in the athletes’ family. The father was playing basketball and football. The mother was a professional swimmer. They are yet to get married and have no divorce record.
