David Wade is known as an American journalist. He is most famous for anchoring WBZ TV News.


Background

David Wade was born in Somerville, Massachusetts. His parents were happy to welcome their son into the world. They lived in a nice home in the suburbs of Somerville. The town as a great place for them to raise their child. David grew up without any siblings. He didn’t get to experience life with brothers or sisters but he didn’t let it negatively influence him. He stepped outside of his comfort zone and tried to make friends at school to keep him company.

While he was a young boy, David grew up with big dreams. He attended Tewksbury High School. He had the drive to become a journalist in his future, Wade attended Emerson College and graduated with a degree in broadcast journalism.

Relationships

David Wade has been married twice in his life. His first marriage was to Bianca de la Garza. The marriage did not last not for a long time. The pair broke up soon after they tied the knot. David’s second wife was Francy Ronayne.

Career

After finishing his college education, David Wade went on to work as a reporter at WRNN-TV in Rye Brook, New York. Wade was also a reporter at WXXA-TV (Fox) in Albany, New York and Boston’s WFXT-TV where he was a weekday anchor.

For many years, David Wade was working as a general assignment reporter before getting promoted to the position of anchor. Currently, he co-anchors WBZ-TV News during the evening and late evening time slots. His partners on the network are well-known journalists, Lisa Hughes and Eric Fisher.

In one of his proudest moments, David got the chance to interview the new group of Boston’s leaders. During a special ceremony at the baseball stadium, Fenway Park, there were three new leaders that were honored. The new Boston Police Commissioner William Gross, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, and Sheriff Steve Tompkins were happy to talk about their new roles.

Everyone involved was extremely happy to part of the milestone. Even the people behind the scenes could feel the impact. David still recalls the day with great memories, “The WBZ-TV photographer shooting video for the event told me he was filled with pride with what he was seeing. Photographer Ron Mitchell, an African-American man from Boston, said he was inspired to see the first black Boston Police Commissioner, first black Congresswoman for Massachusetts and the second black Sheriff to be elected in a row in Suffolk County– all together on the field.”

David could see the effect that these three people were having on the city and decided to take a chance, “If Ron was moved by it, I assumed many other longtime Bostonian’s were as well. So, I invited Gross, Pressley, and Tompkins to sit down with me for an interview about the historic changes for Boston. Never have our local leaders been so diverse. With Ron Mitchell behind the lens, we spoke to the three newsmakers about race in Boston. Where we’ve been, and where we need to go.”

The interview went well for David and the new leaders. The Congresswoman-elect Pressley told David, “These are victories that the entire city celebrates in and that’s something I felt that night at Fenway. People were just so excited to see us together.” Police Commissioner Gross added, “Because of our ethnicity, it shows some people – a lot of people- are seeing past the color of our skin and just saying ‘Can you do the job?’ and the voters have spoken.” The new sheriff also chimed in, “I think it sends a good message to the city, especially a city stigmatized by racism.”

Awards

Wade has got several nominations for his excellent work. He added the Boston and New England Emmy Awards to his treasure chest of achievements. He was honored with such titles as Best Anchor, Best Reporter, and Best Writer. Wade got a huge and significant victory when he won the Associated Press award.
