Soon after graduating from Harvard, Jost got a job a writer in Saturday Night Live in the year 2005. In year 2009, he became writing supervisor for Saturday Night Live. Till 2012, he was a writing supervisor and then, became writer co-head with Rob Klein in 2012. On 1st Mar 2014, Jost appeared as co-anchor in show Weekend update and replaced Seth Meyers, as he left to host another show ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’. Norm Macdonald and Tina Fey as his first choice for his show’s anchor work.
Also, Jost made a Cameo appearance in Republican Presidential debate sketch as John Kasich. He appeared on show Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, as a standup comedian.
