Charles Barkley was born in the year 1963 on February 20th. He spent his early childhood days in Alabama. He used to live in a suburban area with his parents. He went to the Leeds High School. He used to weigh 220 pounds which was significantly higher when compared to his classmates. He was not given an entry in the sports team with his classmates and his height and weight differed a lot from them. He did not even get the chance in the senior team of his school as he had the height of 5 feet and height required was minimum 6 feet.
However, he did worked hard throughout year, he was 6 feet. He got the chance to play basketball in the senior team of his school. After he joined the team, he played in state semifinals where he did a record but they failed to win the game. He wanted to improve his game but time soon arrived, and he was not given any place in the basketball team of his college. Later, he was asked to play as a replacement in the college team. His impressive performance in the tournament helped him to secure a place in the team.
He achieved a lot of popularity in the college through his style of playing. In college, he also got a name “The Round Mound of Rebound” due to his huge popularity and playing skills. He used to play as mid-field. Within a short period of time, he had received a number of awards and recognitions.
In the year 1984, he started playing for the NBA draft. He appeared in the series with many of the famous basketball players. He has also played under the captainship of Moses Malone. When he played in the second team, he was regarded as one of the best players of the team. After that, he appeared in several leagues which earned him a lot of fame.
In the year 1992, he appeared in the team ‘Phoenix Suns’. His average points in the team were 25.6. The team had a record score in the NBA. He was honoured with the title of the best player of the season. Next, in the year 1997, he appeared with the team Houston Rockets. After his impressive performance in the team, he made his appearance in the Summer Olympics but he was kept out of the team due to his poor defence strategy.
When it comes to his personal life, he does not like to share much information with the media and is known to keep things to himself. In the year 1989, he tied the knot with his long time girlfriend Maureen Blumhardt. The couple was blessed with two daughters. The couple is leading a happy married life with their family and there is still no news about their separation.
