Fareed Rafiq Zakaria is an Indian-American
journalist and author. He was born on January 20, 1964 in Mumbai, India. His
father Rafiq, an Islamic scholar and a politician associated with the Indian
National Congress. His father joined the Indian movement freedom. His mother
Fatima, a journalist worked as an editor of the Sunday edition of the Times of
India. Zakaria did his schooling in The Cathedral & John Connon School,
Mumbai, India. He has a B.A. degree from Yale University and a Ph.D. in
Government from Harvard University (1993). While in Yale University, he was
very active in several activities. He was the editor-in-chief of the Yale
Political Monthly, member of the Scroll and Key Society, member of the Party of
the Right and president of the Yale Political Union.
