Vera Farmiga

Vera Farmiga is a popular and talented actress. She has also established herself as a director and a producer. She has impressed the people worldwide through her versatile acting skills.


Vera Farmiga was born in the year 1973 on August 6th. She spent her early childhood years in New Jersey, United States. She was brought up by her Ukrainian parents. Her mother Lubomyra was a school teacher and her father Michael Farmiga was a system analyst who turned into a landscaper. She grew up with six siblings which includes one elder brother and five younger brother and sisters.

She was a very religious person and went to Church every Sunday. Her native language was Ukrainian but she had a knack for learning different languages. Besides Ukrainian, she was also fluent in English and French. When she was twelve years old, her family shifted to Whitehouse Station for her father’s job purposes. At Whitehouse Station, she visited the St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic School. She developed a sudden interest towards dancing and went to the Ukrainian folk-dancing ensemble as a teenager.

Besides dancing, she also had an interest towards instrumental music. She had taken classical piano training in her high school days. She was also a renowned member of the group Plast. In the year 1991, she earned a graduation degree from the Hunterdon Central Regional High School.

After earning her graduation degree, she started pursuing acting as her career option. However, as her parents wanted her to continue with her university education, she started pursuing performing arts.

In the year 1995, she achieved her Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree from the Syracuse University. When she was in the final year of the university, she was starred at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in the role of Nina Zarechnaya in The Seagull. She was appreciated a lot for her role. In the year 1996, she appeared in the American Conservatory Theatre in the role of Miranda. After that, she worked with the production house, Good. She was portrayed in the role of Anne Hartman in The Barrow Group. After achieving huge popularity in the theatre dramas, she played a role in the fantasy series of the Fox television known as Roar.

In the drama series Law & Order by NBC, she made a guest appearance in the role of Lindsay Carson. Next year, she played a supporting role in the thriller drama Return to Paradise. In the year 2000, she appeared in a crime drama known as The Opportunists. She was seen in Love in the Time of Money, a romantic drama in the year 2002. Apart from this, she appeared in many independent films and television series which earned her a lot of popularity in her career.

When it comes to her personal life, she has much to tell. She got married in the year 1997 to her long time boyfriend Sebastian Roché with whom she eloped. The couple got separated after a marital life of seven years. Next, she got married to Renn Hawkey, a famous musician. The couple dated each other for several years before tying the knot and there is still no news about their separation.
